This hike was about a 7 1/2 mile out-and-back hike along the Haunted Canyon Trail (Trail 203) just outside of the southeast corner of the Superstition Wilderness near Superior, AZ. The first mile and half of the hike was along Pinto Creek on a dirt road used to access mining facilities in the area. The road finally gave way to a trail as the route entered Haunted Canyon. We hiked about 2 miles further before eating lunch along the stream and turning back. We were slowed several times as we tried to pick our way across the swollen creek while keeping our feet dry.

Just a short way from the start of the hike the trail (actually a road) crosses Pinto Creek.	Pinto Creek lined with bare Arizona Sycamores.	At this point rocky cliffs form the walls of Haunted Canyon.
